ONE-ON-ONE COACHING
You Get One Shot Every Two Years
At most agencies a promotional cycle comes around once every two years. If you do not make the list this time, you are not trying again next month. You are waiting twenty-four months, doing the same job for the same pay, watching people you came on with earn their stripes.
I tested four times before I made sergeant. On my first attempt I placed 56th out of 125, and the whole department saw the list.
I know what that wait costs, because I paid it three times.
I Score the Thing You Are About to Walk Into
I am an active oral board assessor. I sit on panels and score candidates.
I know what the scoring sheet looks like before you walk in. I know which answers get full credit, and which ones sound good in the room and earn nothing. I know what gets written down while you are still talking.
Most candidates prepare their answers. Almost none of them prepare for how those answers get scored.
That is the difference you are buying.
Run the Math
$10K–$20K
What sergeant's stripes are worth every year, depending on your agency. Every rank above that is worth more. It compounds across every year you hold the rank and follows you into retirement through your pension.
24 months
What a failed attempt costs. Two years of pay you did not earn, and two years added to how long you work before you get where you were going.
Over a career, one promotion is worth six figures. Coaching runs $250 to $2,250.

Who This Is For
Candidates at any rank with a test date far enough out to do the work. Four weeks or more is recommended.
If your test is next week, this is not the right move. The book or the course will do more for you in the time you have. I will be here when you go for the next rank.
The Call
The strategy session is free and runs thirty minutes. Bring your test date and what you know about your agency's process.
We will talk about where you are and what would move your score most. If working together makes sense, we will set it up. If it does not, you will still leave with something you can use.
